Whey and casein are the two main categories of protein found in cow’s milk. Approximately 80% of cow’s-milk protein consists of casein, while around 20% consists of whey proteins.
Protein is a central component of sports nutrition. It supplies amino acids used to maintain and develop muscle mass, repair tissues and support adaptation to exercise.
Consuming protein after exercise is often presented as essential for muscle growth. For many years, the prevailing belief was that protein had to be consumed within a very short “anabolic window” to obtain the full benefits of training.
